Ministry of Energy in United Arab Emirates was re-established when Ministry of Water and Electricity and Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources were merged in one ministry in 2004. The Ministry develops strategies and legislations in cooperation with the concerned parties to promote and implement competitive, sustainable, and secure services in the Minerals, Water, and Energy sectors. Since its establishment, the Ministry of Energy is setting laws and regulations to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and develops strategies to reduce green house gas emissions and their negative impacts on the environment. as well as the Energy Strategy and the Water Security Strategy. In addition to that, he Ministry of Energy has also conducted various studies and surveys, developed its database, communicate information and statistics on Minerals, Water and Energy sectors, and successfully prepared Geological maps and Geophysical reports and studies for the United Arab Emirates.
Furthermore, the Ministry has always been committed to support innovative practices, strategies, and frameworks in the fields of Energy, Water, and Mineral resources. It has conducted the UAE National Innovation Strategy for water Sector was prepared in collaboration and coordination with local distribution companies to discuss prices of petroleum products and derivatives, which have been deregulated in August 2015.
